Microsoft Certifications » MCITP
I want to get certifications for MCSA and MCDBA ,however MCITP: Enterprise Administrator, and MCITP Database Administrator were released and I'm wondering would it be better to get MCSA/DBA or the MCITP certifications ?If I take Exam 70-640, and Exam 70-642 would that count twards both the MCITP: Enterprise Administrator, and MCITP: Server Administrator or would I have to retake it if I wanted to get both?
firstly, MCSE was a very good investment because today most security related issues in .NET and SQL Server development. So you could just do Win2008 MCTS in AD and Application configuring and MCITP in SQL Server 2005 DBA which let you cover most Windows 2008 and SQL Server Admin skills. That means you need four or five exams .70-640 and 70- 642 count towards MCITP Enterprise Admin but I would not advice you to try 642 because that is one of Microsoft hardest exams because it covers counting Octets and raw TCP/IP. I think you should do70- 640 and 70- 643 instead or just do 640 and the three SQL Servers to start and then do more Windows server 2008 exams when there is enough study material. second,Once you passed an exam that counts for multiple certification tracks you're done with that exam. You do not need to retake the exam again.

- When will Microsoft make a Windows 7 exam ala 70-620 for Vista or 70-270 for XP?I am currently preparing to upgrade my MCSE for Windows Server 2003 to an MCITP: Enterprise Administrator for Windows Server 2008. Part of that upgrade path is taking the 70-620 exam for Vista. I am wondering if I should hold out for a Windows 7 exam to hopefully be future compatible toward whatever the certification will be for whatever server OS comes after 2008. Does anyone know when MS will release an exam for Windows 7 and if it will be usable towards the MCITP: Enterprise Administrator for 2008? Thanks.

- Clarify MS Press book required for 70-623 MCITP certification I am considering doing the MCITP 70-623 certification. I have bought the Microsoft Press recommended text book MCITP Self paced training (70-623) :Supporting and troubleshooting apps on a win vista client for consumer support technicians. A[[erently this is all I need, but I am not sure. In the text book it is not clear if it covers the pre requesite exam 70-620. According to the MS Prep Guide they only refer to this text book but it is not clear to me whether I need to now purchase the text book for 70-620, do that exam first and then start studying the 70-623 text. Can someone please clarify this? Thanks
- Does 70-621: upgrade MCDST to MCITP count as Elective for MCSE ? Here is the certifications I passed, and I can say the Design Exam (297) is the most difficult exam I ever passed (in my life). The first one I passed was the 70-215 6 years ago, but that was still on Windows 2000. Then I passed them in the following order: 271, 272, 621, 270, 290, 291, 293, 297. Now I believe I only need 294 (core) to become MCSE certified. But a teacher told me today that my 621 may not be elective, as it is not really a 620, but just an upgrade. That scares me, I am preparing the 294, and really hope it is the last exam I have to prepare to be finally MCDST, MCITP, MCSA, and MCSE. Can please someone confirm that ?? 297 Designing a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory and Network Infrastructure 293 Planning and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure 291 Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure 290 Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment 270 Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional 621 Upgrading your MCDST Certification to MCITP Enterprise Support 272 Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Desktop Applications on a Microsoft® Windows® XP Operating System 271 Supporting Users and Troubleshooting a Microsoft® Windows® XP Operating System 215 Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server Thank you, and best regards.
